How We Track Prices (and Why a Number Might Be Missing)

A price tracker is only as useful as it is honest. This page explains exactly how the numbers on this site are produced, so you can judge them for yourself.
Where the prices come from
We maintain a hand-picked catalog of the desktop parts that matter most — the current GPUs, CPUs, memory kits, and SSDs worth recommending. On a regular schedule we read the current listing price for each one directly from the retailer's own product page, and publish that snapshot here. A number you see is whatever the listing showed the last time we checked.
Why a price is sometimes just a link
Occasionally a part page shows a "check price" link instead of a number. That is deliberate. If we cannot read a clean, trustworthy price — the item is out of stock, or the listing does not expose a reliable figure that run — we would rather show you a direct link than guess. Showing a stale or wrong price is worse than showing none, so we never invent one.
How fresh is the number?
Each page notes when prices were last refreshed. Component prices can move within a day, so treat the figure as a recent snapshot, not a live quote. Always confirm the final total — including shipping and any cart-level discounts — on the retailer's page before you pay. The price you see here is a strong starting point, not a promise.
How listings are ordered
When a part has more than one offer, the cheapest in-stock option is shown first — full stop. We do not reorder results based on which retailer pays us more, and we do not accept payment from manufacturers to feature or bump a product. If a part is not worth owning, it does not go in the catalog.
How the site stays free
Two ways, neither of which costs you anything extra. When you click through to a retailer and buy something, we may earn a small affiliate commission at no additional cost to you — the price is the same whether you use our link or not. And there are a few ads on some pages. That is the entire business model, and it is what keeps the site free and login-free. Affiliate links never change the order of results or which products we include.
