About PCPartPrice

Hi — I'm the person behind PCPartPrice. I've been building my own desktops since high school, and the part I always hated was the price-checking: bouncing between tabs, refreshing the same listings, trying to remember what a card cost last week. This site is the tool I wished existed, so I made it and left it open for everyone.

Where the prices come from

I run a small price checker on my own machine that reads the current Amazon listing price for every part and publishes that snapshot to this site. A number here is only as fresh as the last time I ran the checker, so always confirm the final total on Amazon before you pay.

I'm starting with Amazon because its buy-box price is the one most people actually pay, and I'm working on adding other reputable retailers next. I won't list a source whose prices I can't stand behind.

When a price can't be read cleanly — a part is out of stock, or the listing doesn't expose a clean number — I show a plain link to Amazon instead of a figure. I'd rather leave it blank than quote you something stale or wrong.

How the site pays for itself

Two ways, neither of which costs you a cent. When you click through to a retailer and buy something, they pay me a small affiliate commission — same price for you either way. And there are a few ads on some pages. That's the whole business model; it's what keeps the site free and free of logins.

What I won't do

Listings are sorted by lowest price, full stop — never by whichever retailer pays the most. I don't take money from manufacturers to feature or bump a product, and I don't pad the catalog with junk to chase clicks. If a part isn't worth owning, it isn't here.
